Truman Wins Primary

TRUMAN WINS CAMPAIGN

Will Face Alford in November General Election

Lamar, Missouri – The primary is in the books. The dust has settled. Change will come to Congress in November.

Jack Truman won the Democratic primary for U.S. Congress in Missouri's 4th Congressional District. He'll face Mark Alford, who won the Republican primary in a crowded field.

Truman, a non-politician, is running a self-funded campaign. He actually encourages supports not to donate to his political campaign. “Keep your money”, Truman said in media materials. “This campaign is not about the money. It's about serving the people. You shouldn't have to pay anything for someone to serve you. We're living in hard times right now. Use your hard-earned money to help your family. Use it for food, gas, or to buy something for your children. This election will be about wealth versus the common person. Politics is all about money. We need to get away from that. I'm proud to be self-financing this campaign to give voters a real choice”.

Truman, a 35 year veteran in the entertainment industry, has an interesting background. A college professor, Army veteran, and small business owner, he believes his lifetime of experiences can help represent the changes needed coming from his district. Calling himself a Liberal Conservative, Truman says a vote for him is a protest vote, a vote against the current political system.

The Democratic party is not the party any longer of Kennedy and Truman”, says Truman. “I don't know what's happened to this party. The times have changed. Both parties need to work together to make things happen and get things done. A liberal is a person who is open minded to change. It's important to have an open mind to get things done. Ike Skelton represented our district for over 30 years, before it changed over to a Republican district. We need to get back to having a district where a Democrat can best serve the needs of our locals”.

Truman's main priorities will be Health and Education. “There are a lot of issues that are important to address”, says Truman. “Gun violence, a woman's right to choose and the economy are current issues that are more important than ever. But to me, our children are the most important thing. Children are our future. Their health and education need to come before anything. Protecting our children will be my number one priority in this campaign”.

It has also been announced that Truman will be running a virtual campaign. “In today's times with the coronavirus epidemic, it's important to keep people's health the main priority in this election. Life is the most important thing. Also, the future is digital. That's one thing we've learned from this pandemic. For the health and safety of our residents, I cannot in good conscience do an in-person campaign. For these reasons, this entire campaign will be virtual”.

The times are changing”, says Truman. We need to adapt to the times, while keeping our values, and be a political system for the people”.
